In 1968, AMC Brampton built 4 Rambler Americans for the Shell 4000 Rally, initially building a blue prototype/test car, followed by 3 white competition cars. The blue car was heavily tested and developed and used as a model for the 3 white cars, that finished the rally in 2nd, 3rd & 5th place, quite an accomplishment. I have the blue car. It sat in a field for 30 years or so intact but very rusted. All original mechanicals remained (290 4 bbl, T10 4 spd, twin grip rear end, brake mods, roll bar etc.) I brought back a rust free 2 door sedan from Florida (I'm in Canada) to use the shell for the restoration. My background is formula/sports racer type cars so I'm into something new (and HEAVY) here. If anyone has any input regarding these 4 special Canadian built cars, tech tips, how to's or whatever, I'd be glad to read anything. As of today (Oct/08) I have stripped all mechanicals for rebuilding and have had what was left of the original shell baled into a base for a new shop table. I am donating the 6 cyl engine/trans from the donor car to another Rambler project in Ontario. Any info appreciated,
Thanks,
