I have a 73 AMX and the tilt steering is very sloppy. Does anyone know if AMC used some other company's column? I am hoping they used a GM, Chrysler or Ford steering column so I can find parts to repair it.

Any information would be great.

Thanks,

Tony

I found out that the steering column is a Saginaw and that almost all the cars built back then used Saginaw columns. I got replacement bearings from the local Chevy dealer. There is also an excellent web page that shows step by step how to rebuild the column. Here is the link, http://www.buickperformance.com/tiltsteeringcolumnwobble.htm

I hope someone finds this helpful.
