Crusher Alert/1000+ cars/Georgia

This is a rather large junkyard, salvage operation in Georgia, the guy is looking to sell
off 1000+ cars or crush them. The actual location is
Waugh Enterprises
1640 New Franklin Road
La Grange, GA.

Take a moment to look thru the photos,

http://www.flickr.com/photos/forwardlookguy/2325419237/in/set-72057594098212489/

as with sheetmetal being at premimum in last 5 years as most has been crushed due to run
up in steel prices years ago, this is a trove of sheetmetal if you need stuff, there are
only a handful of places like this that still exist with Ramblers, AMCs in them in 2009
headed into 2010.

A number of these cars look salvagable. Well, maybe not that 71 Javelin cut in 1/2 or the
69(?) AMX, but sure as heck the red 68 Rebel, that is easy resto. I do not know what
timeline exists with this selloff either. Could be like Mikes in Albuerquerque (big
scrabble word NM ) a few years ago which had 6 months to sell off due to new law, or could
simply be open ended, but never know so don't delay.

Good luck and hope some of these find homes and the parts help AMC owners in a time that
sheet metal has simply vanished for our cars. Thanks to fellow AMCer Mike Stilling's for
the heads up to spread the word quickly.

Hmmmm... I don't see any trace of them on the Google sat view.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=1640+New+Franklin+Road+La+Grange,+GA.&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=46.226656,79.013672&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=1640+New+Franklin+Rd,+La+Grange,+Troup,+Georgia+30241&ll=33.09156,-85.026755&spn=0.012081,0.01929&t=h&z=16&lci=com.panoramio.all

Thanks for the heads-up Eddie. I might still try to check them out. Heading to Atlanta for a few days next week anyway -- maybe I'll grab that Rebel if I can find a way to get it home.

Perhaps maybe not 'actual location' but business address and cars are elsewhere?

I don't think we should tell Ralph Nader about those collapsed cowls on the Ramblers. He might write a new book: Unsafe Even When Parked for 50 Years.

Crusher Alert/1000+ cars/Georgia

Ken, from my own experiences here in Houston thru the years, that is, when there were AMCs
in junkyards here, many times the cowl areas would break when the car was lifted up, and
unceremounously dumped, back down on ground, especially if it still had engine in it, I
would guess physics takes over perhaps, not really sure, but used to come across them
split in firewall, cowl, and windshield area. Usually fork lifts to blame.

There looks to be a number of good, salvagable vehicles at this place.

Crusher Alert/1000+ cars/Georgia

Hi Marc, no that google view not always accurate, I pulled up my house on it and it didn't
have the fence, and had cars sitting there sold long ago. Dan Strohl of Hemmings Muscle
mentioned to me that this place was mentioned in a March 2008 blog on their site. So 21
months ago mention, to me that is a good thing as possibly no 'time frame' with
city/county moving in to shut it down and build McMansions. On the other hand, those
photos in the link are about 1 month old, not good as no one picking up the AMCs sadly.
